Yesterday the date for the next cystoscopy arrived yesterday and is set for Thursday 1st November in the middle of the morning (so this is the second of the three monthly checks).
Currently there are (IMO) two outcomes we can really expect for this one:
- everything is clear, nothing found growing, we get sent home with an appointment to come for the next check in February 2013, we can all breathe a sigh of relief for a little while;
- something is found, another op will happen, chemo will follow, so sigh of relief just yet.
Obviously we shall have everything crossed for option 1!!
Things in the house have been less stressful since the consultant appointment last week, which is a welcome relief. Laughter seems to be creeping back - it had lost its way for a while there.
A slightly heated heart to heart (pre appointment when stress levels were at an all time high) has made me realise that Rik is right in that, just because he deals with it very differently to me (keeping things centred and to himself) doesn't make it wrong...something I had been struggling with, but it's strange that once you accept that is how someone's dealing with something, it becomes easier to deal with...does that make any sense? Meh, maybe I'm just much more of a drama queen! It has to be said, Rik made more of a fuss over quitting smoking (some years ago) and man flu than he ever has over his cancer...typical man ;-)
With regards to me and my tests, well they went ok, got complimented in a rather unusual way (no, not sharing!) and have been given some meds to try out. Hopefully these will improve at least part of my issue. Here goes nothing!!
As for the family, they are all doing well. CC just had Cubs Camp (she moved up in September from Beavers) where she gutted (and kissed!) a fish. She came home smelly of fish and fire. I put her in a sheep dip.
